What makes the F major chord particularly difficult to play on the guitar is the number of strings required to play it. To play the F chord, you need to use four fingers on the fretboard to play all six strings. The difficulty comes from having to use your index finger over the entire fret while keeping the E, B and E strings low at the same time.
